The year was 1957. Carroll Bierbower moved to California's Antelope Valley and started flxing TV's and installing antennas in the rural high desert. To Carroll this was a natural. His high school job was repairing radios and during WWII the Navy trained him in electronics. Later on came VCR's and then satellite sales, installation and service. As a teen, Carroll's grandson Rick started installing and servicing satellite systems. Carroll retired a few years back and Rick took over the family business. Things have changed since 1957. Carroll worked from a converted garage out of his house with just word-of-mouth and yellow page ads. The Antelope Valley was very rural and mostly covered witb alfalfa fields. Today, the Valley is a national aerospace center, the Space Shuttles were built here, as were both stealth aircraft. About 400,000 people live in the Palmdale/Lancaster area. Carroll's has changed too, we sell, service and install all manner of satellite systems from the old BUD's (Big Ugly Dishes) to mini-dishes, to the latest two-way Internet access satellite systems. Carroll's contracts to many national firms such as Sears, Muzak, NEC and Accent Health for service and installs on satellite and audio/visual equipment. We sell nationwide via the Internet to the Recreational Vehicle marketplace...oh, and yes, after 43 years we still fix TV's and VCR's.
